In a write-up for Sky Sports, club legend Ryan Giggs discussed how difficult Manchester United are going to be to stop this Premier League season, due to their depth. The club icon and member of the famed Class of ’92 pointed out how the Red Devils are getting production, both in attack and in service, from a large number of contributors.
United won each of their first two league games by a resounding 4-0 margin, and they did it by having multiple heroes in each contest.
The big money splash hire Romelu Lukaku is off to a hot start. Henrik Mkhitaryan and Anthony Martial are fulfilling their promise and meeting the high expectations fans had for them in the early going.
The third and final summer transfer window signing, Nemanja Matic, may be the best performer of all. Or at least amongst the finest. Ryan Giggs described the team as looking “powerful,” as he highlighted all of the stellar players in United’s attack and attacking midfield.
“They look powerful with Nemanja Matic and Romelu Lukaku, but what is pleasing to see is the creative players doing well as well. Henrikh Mkhitaryan already has four assists and that will do him the world of good, so hopefully he can get back to his Dortmund form,” Giggs wrote on Sky’s website.
“There’s a lot of players contributing to goals which is crucial to winning the league. Juan Mata scores year-in-year-out, Anthony Martial chipping in and when Marcus Rashford and Mkhitaryan join the party you’ve got options.
“You can’t just rely on Lukaku.”
