Romelu Lukaku Voices His Issues with Chelsea, Manchester United Transfer Reports

romelu-lukaku

Both Chelsea FC and Manchester United are after Romelu Lukaku, the Everton striker- that’s a narrative we’ve seen quite a bit on the back pages this past month. It’s certainly nothing new, as Lukaku was linked with a move back to his former club, Chelsea this past summer too.

The Stamford Bridge return rumors have been buzzing for awhile, but a new report from The Sun has set the striker off, and he made some Tweets yesterday indicating how upset he was. (Someone taking issue with The Sun and their “reporting”…SHOCKING! WOW!)

How could anyone have an issue with that paragon of journalistic integrity that is The Sun…*sarcasm font*

Here’s what Lukaku Tweeted:

On one hand, I can definitely sympathize with Romelu Lukaku about being frustrated by fake news. We all are. On the other hand, he is a public figure and therefore subject to intense scrutiny, but he doesn’t quite seem to get that here. As for his idea that media outlets should wait until an official announcement is made….good luck with that.

That’s not at all how the media industry works, but anyway, what set him off yesterday?

ESPN FC sums it up perfectly:

A report in The Sun claimed that the Belgium international would prefer a summer move to United as he has reservations over playing for Antonio Conte at Chelsea due to his pressing style and the defensive responsibilities that come with it.

Romelu Lukaku is the league’s leading scorer this season, and he’s got a very comfortable lead over his closest challenger, Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane. He was also named to the PFA Best XI team of the year; one of the very few named to the list who doesn’t player for Chelsea or Tottenham.
