Romelu Lukaku, the subject of a very controversial chant that made global football headlines this week, is continuing his elite play on the pitch. Today he scored his eighth goal in eight games, and the 20′ strike ended up being the only scoring as Manchester United went on to win 1-0 at Southampton.
The extremely hot start by the big Belgian puts him in elite company at Old Trafford.
Eight goals in eight for Lukaku. He's reached that number quicker than Cantona, Cole, Yorke, Van Nistelrooy, Van Persie & Ibrahimovic. #mufc

Lukaku, who ended up drawing a yellow card in the 82′ for a bad foul, also showed a ton of passion on the pitch today. His body language conveys just how much winning and scoring goals means to him.

United won a game in which Southampton had more chances and more possession. The Red Devils were able to grind out all three points in a victory that wasn’t all too pretty. Saints controlled the ball 61-39% and out shot the visitors 14-9.
With Paul Pogba out for what could be a long time, United will need his BFF Lukaku to continue playing at an elite level.
