It’s not so much the mistake, as it is the fact that nobody noticed and fixed it. What that says about the Washington Redskins staff, and their lack of awareness of the international game is an insult to Man United. It’s embarrassing.
FedEx Field hosted Manchester United and Inter Milan on Tuesday night as the two clubs played an International Champions Cup match. Scoreboard operators welcomed them with electronic signage labeling their home venue as ‘Old Traddord.’
The ‘d’ key is right next to the ‘f’ key on a keyboard, so it’s not the end of the world. However, no one corrected the typo. For like an hour. They just left the mistake out in their for the entire world to see. And on a night that Man United debuted their third kit.
Again, it was just a mistake, but the fact that the Washington Redskins didn’t realize it, and think about correcting it, that’s a slap in the face. It’s not Man United’s stadium that needs a name change, it’s the Redskins name itself. That’s long overdue. And here’s why.
