French and Manchester United midfielder, the world’s most expensive player, Paul Pogba is a lightning rod for criticism. The attention and energy he puts into dancing, emojis and outlandish haircuts are often fodder for his critics, who are very high in numbers when you’re someone who’s received a £89.3 million pay grade.
He, along with his partner in dabbing Jesse Lingard, have even been ripped on by a United legend club legend, Rio Ferdinand.
United Manager Jose Mourinho has defended Pogba against the criticism saying: “I feel the world is losing balance. Envy coming to certain levels. I am scared for the next generation.”
“It is not Paul’s fault that he gets 10 times the money that some very good players get. It is not Paul’s fault that some fans are in trouble and need every penny to survive.”
Today, in advance of United’s visit to Anderlecht for the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final tie, Pogba met the media and you can get a full analysis of the session over at this link.
One journalist asked a tough, but very necessary question to the Frenchman. It was about Pogba’s dancing, and all the heat he takes for it. While he appears to be fun-loving and carefree on social media, Pogba says he’s all business on the pitch, and that Mourinho has had a conversation about his dancing.
Pogba answered: “What stays on the pitch stays there and same off it.
“I love life. I like to dance. I can switch on and off, on and off the pitch.
“Before you wouldn’t do it now you do. In America basketballers listen to music.
“I am serious off the pitch and love life off it. Mourinho told me what he thought but we are different generations.”
