It’s here! In just a few hours Manchester United at Liverpool will kick off in an absolutely massive tilt. Blood feud matches like are always huge, and take on another added level when both teams are still in the title hunt. Kicking it up yet another notch is the fact that this game comes off a two week international break, creating extra time and space for over-hyping it further.
In regards to actual game tactics, Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic admitted what his side’s primary concern is in trying to stop Liverpool today at Anfield.
The main issue they seek to resolve is Liverpool’s fast starts, where they score right out of the gates. United’s final acquisition of the summer transfer window revealed that this is something manager Jose Mourinho has been working on.
“We’ve prepared very well,” Nemanja Matic told the club’s website: MUTV.
“The manager got some videos for us to see what they have in their team and how we can stop them, so I’m sure we will be ready for them. They always want to score goals in the first 10 to 15 minutes. We have to be ready for that, and we have to be very aggressive in the same way they try to be.”
Matic went on say that he’s seen this over and over during his days with Chelsea, and that he, along with his teammates, will be prepared.
“I’ve played at Anfield a few times and they always try to be like that, but we have the quality to stop them,” the Serbian continued.
“It’s a big derby, it’s a special game for our fans and for their fans, so, I’m sure our fans will enjoy it and support us for the whole 90 minutes and we will try to make them happy, of course.”
