The Manchester United career of Victor Lindelof has gotten off to a very rough start, but now comes a chance for him to prove his worth at a time when the team really needs him. We already knew heading into tonight’s league clash at Leicester City that first team right back Antonio Valencia was injured. Just moments ago, the official United Twitter account posted the starting XI, and included Lindelof at the right back slot.
United Manager Jose Mourinho explains:
“Darmian is injured. We don’t have too many more options and Victor has experience to play in the position at the highest level, so it’s not new for him.”

Yes, Matteo Darmian is also hurt which means that Lindelof, primarily a central defender, and £30.7 million summer transfer window addition, will have to man the right side of the back line. He does have experience at the position, but he struggled so far in his adjustment to life at Old Trafford.
Perhaps this clash at the Foxes will provide him an opportunity to turn the corner and announce his arrival with authority.
