Manchester City emerged victorious at Manchester United 2-1 today in a match that may have effectively sealed the Premier League title race. It was a Manchester Derby that possessed as much hype as any edition ever. The game itself was extremely entertaining, but probably not as close as the final scoreline might show.
City kind of dominated this one most of the way. That said, let’s take a look at some of the Manchester Derby news topics which are trending right now. Go here for the link to the first edition of Manchester Derby news and notes.
Pep Guardiola was proud of how his side won in the Barcelona way. The Spaniard praised his players for proving his style of play could translate to England.
“The personality to play here is what I want. We can play this way in England’, he told Sky Sports (transcript Daily Mail) after the game. “People said we couldn’t play the way we did in Barcelona in England but it is possible and we did it.”
“I knew that last season. Always I believed we could do it. Everyone can play how they want, that’s why football is so beautiful.”
Romelu Lukaku had his chances today and messed all of them up. Not what you expect from a £75m striker. José Mourinho needs to drop him now. Not good enough.

–Romelu Lukaku was, once again, a no show in a big game against a strong opponent.
He may have been the biggest name on either side who ended up being a total dud. He got ripped apart on social media today for his missed opportunities, and rightly so. Here is just a small sampling :
