Manchester United are pursuing the teenage son of Everton Academy Director Peter Vint. United Academy Director, and club icon Nicky Butt is looking to finalize a deal for Will Vint, a teenage super prospect. The teen’s Instagram page already describes him as a “Footballer at Manchester United.”
According to the Daily Mail: “The young American has had previous trials at Fulham and Everton and visited United’s academy earlier this month where he impressed coaching staff.
Vint, who is 15 and plays in midfield, was formerly with Real Colorado as part of the US Soccer Development Academy.”
There aren’t a whole lot of Americans in the English Premier League, but United and Everton have done deals for American players before. United signed goalkeeper Tim Howard in 2003 and he enjoyed relative success with them as they won the 2003 FA Community Shield, the 2003–04 FA Cup and the 2005–06 League Cup.
However, after United signed Edwin van der Sar, Howard went out on loan to Everton to play more first-team soccer and eventually signed permanently with them in February 2007.
