Marquinhos is a defender who’s been linked with a move to Manchester United many times over the past several years. Only time will tell if 2017 is the summer than finally sees the move made. For what it’s worth, Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte claim there’s a four team derby on to acquire his services from Paris Saint-Germain, with three teams having submitted bids already.
The publication claims that United have outbid Barcelona and Juventus, with Real Madrid also being keen, but yet to submit a formal offer.
Globo Esporte writes that: “Manchester United presented the highest value to Paris Saint-Germain: € 70 million ($ 259 million). The lowest bid was that of Barcelona: between € 40 and 45 million (R $ 148 and 166 million), something similar to what had already been presented by the Catalans last season to have Marquinhos – and refused by PSG.”
The 23-year-old Brazilian is one of the most versatile, and therefore also most sought after defenders in the entire world. He’s a central defender first and foremost but he has also played some right back. The article goes on to say the he is most likely staying put in Paris, at least until after the 2018 World Cup.
Marquinhos has 17 caps for Brazil, and 155 appearances for PSG. This seems like an unlikely transfer rumor, especially when you consider that United just bought a new central defender in Victor Lindelof.
