He totally flamed out at Manchester United, but Memphis Depay truly seems to think that he’s potentially bound for Real Madrid. Not sure how that works or if that even comes to making sense, but it is actually what the young Dutchman said in an interview with The PSV Supporter magazine.
“I think I’m going to Real Madrid. Yes, that’s a serious goal,” said the young winger, currently with Lyon.
“What’s happened so far, that’s God, he helps me and brings me here. I had very nice times at PSV, but I wanted to reach higher goals in my career. At Lyon I’m very happy. The club is in a way comparable to PSV.”
Memphis Depay moved to Manchester in May of 2015 from PSV Eindhoven, where he was the leading scorer in the Dutch Eredivisie. He was extremely ineffective at Old Trafford, and eventually found himself buried deep on the bench. In January he was sold to Lyon for £16 million and he has two goals and three assists this season for the French side.
Obviously, his self-esteem is sky high right now as he seems to have recovered from any damage suffered to his ego during his failing with the Red Devils. He certainly has ambition too- as he cited the two defending European champions.
