Craig Burley, former Chelsea star and ESPN FC pundit was on SportsCenter today to discuss Manchester United’s disastrous start to the season. The fact that Burley came on SC this year to break it down is yet another example of how the English Premier League is starting to take off in America right now.
(Oh and ESPN President John Skipper is a Tottenham Hotspur supporter, so there’s that) Anyway, Burley said at the end of last year’s David Moyes 7th place disaster that Man United needed six more players to contend for the title.
Blunt, but truthful.
Hey, he’s not wrong.
So Man United have gotten two of the six this transfer window.
Today’s horrific start at home versus Swansea City only drives home the point. The Swans exposed all the weakness that United have. So who needs to be signed to get this thing right? Well it all starts with Arturo Vidal, that’s the biggest one. Contingency plans, should the Chilean superstar not come to Old Trafford, are Alex Song or Fredy Guarin.
Then there’s Angel Di Maria. He’s still in play. What about Marcos Rojo? Has that one slipped away just like Thomas Vermaelen and Toni Kroos did? How about Juan Cuadrado?
Joining me to talk United transfer rumors is Phil Meyers, Sports Director of SRN Broadcasting. The podcast is below. You’ll also want to follow him on Twitter @WeWalkAlone19
We have faith Man United will figure it out:
And in this podcast below, Meyers and I talk Louis van Gaal tactics, lineups and formations.
This one gets technical:
