For Manchester United, obviously Paul Pogba is the biggest injury concern that they have right now. The most recent time tables out there have as him “gone till November,” apologies to Wycleaf Jean. Go to this link for much more on that development.
Ashley Young was the first of the Red Devils’ long term absentees to return, but Marcos Rojo is still out. Luke Shaw has fully convalesced, and he’s match fit now, but probably won’t be selected for United’s home clash against Everton this weekend.
It’s not likely we’ll see his name in the team sheet on Sunday, but could very likely feature against Burton in the League Cup on Wednesday night. Let’s go through the Manchester United injury report, as manager Jose Mourinho met the media a few minutes ago and his weekly press briefing (video available at this link).
Mourinho on Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo:
“Shaw is not injured anymore, so it’s a question of form, it’s a question of option but he’s recovered. Rojo is still in the timings after such an important injury, everything went really well but he’s not even training with the group in normal sessions, he’s just doing parts of it.”
Mourinho on Paul Pogba:
He doesn’t know or simply wouldn’t say how long Pogba will be out for, but insists the team will cope, as he said the injury gives other midfielders a chance to play.
“We miss Pogba, we need Pogba, but we have good players – Herrera, Fellaini, Carrick – who are waiting,” Mourinho said.
“They’re waiting for a real chance to start matches and to play from the beginning. They are ready – this is also our way of thinking.”
