The 25th year, the silver season of the Premier League era kicks off tonight, with Manchester United beginning their campaign Sunday when they host West Ham United. Manager Jose Mourinho gave his weekly news conference a few hours ago, and we have the video of it for you below via YouTube.
Take a look, as the video itself is just over eight minutes.
Some major takeaways from the session include:
-Mourinho discussing the possibilities of Zlatan Ibrahimovic returning
-His thoughts and feelings on getting three players in the summer transfer window, but not four like he wanted
-The injury situation: “We had three players as you know, one defender, one midfielder and one attacking player but for this beginning of the season we lost important players too,” Mourinho said.
“We lost (Marcos) Rojo, (Ashley) Young, (Luke) Shaw, Zlatan (Ibrahimovic), we lost players for injuries so I think between the players we lost and we got we are in a similar situation.”
Mourinho also gave an overview/synopsis of how the preseason went for United.
“With more experience of working together, of a much better preseason than we had last season, with the confidence levels of a team that won a European competition, is back in the Champions League, so motivations are higher and confidence levels so I would say I am really happy to start the Premier League this weekend because our preseason was very complete and was organized in a way where we start playing against MLS teams and we end it playing against the best teams in Europe, so I’m happy to start Sunday, we are ready.”
