In September, we saw the biggest Manchester Derby in history. When Manchester United met Manchester City this past fall it received more hype and media coverage than any previous installment of the series. It was also televised in more than 600 countries.
In the summer, Man United and Man City were set to meet in a preseason exhibition in China, but mother nature had other plans.
Torrential downpour and poor logistics made the field unplayable, and thus the friendly was cancelled. It would have been the first Manchester Derby played outside England ever, but another chance could be brewing this summer.
Sources told ESPN FC that the clubs have been in talks about the possibility of facing each other as part of their preseason tours.
City have previously revealed plans to return to the United States for their summer preseason tour. It is well known that United are planning to train in California this summer, on the campus of UCLA.
Official summer tour destinations and dates will be announced at a later time, but they really need to make the USA Manchester derby happen.
