One of the top Manchester United storylines this summer revolves, of course, around striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Will he return to Old Trafford for another go-around? Or is his time in a United shirt over?
Although we won’t receive a formal, official answer next week, a decision could be revealed anyway.
There has been no news from either the club or the player about whether he will extend his stay, but a decision could be revealed next week with the Premier League set to publish retained and released lists from all 20 top-flight teams.
United’s list should show whether Ibrahimovic has agreed a new contract, has had an offer made to him, or will be released at the end of his current deal.
Ibrahimovic came over on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain last summer, and his current one year deal expires the end of the month.
The larger than life personality and Swedish superstar was far and away United’s leading scorer this past season, but suffered a serious knee injury late season, leaving him out until at least the beginning of 2018.
Both he and his agent Mino Raiola promised a return though, and Raiola has said publicly that Ibrahimovic wants to remain at Old Trafford. Zlatan has reportedly received very lucrative offers from both Los Angeles Major League Soccer franchises, but for now, the 35-year-old wishes to remain in Europe.
