Manchester City won the match 2-1, but Bristol City probably had the superior supporters group on this night. Man City fell well short of selling out The Etihad (cue the next round of “The Emptyhad” jokes) in their League Cup semi-final home leg win over Bristol City.
Supporters of the Robins, numbering about 8,000 strong, mocked the home side by chanting: “Just like Bristol, your city is red.”

It is of course a reference to the Manchester United being a much more popular side than Manchester City. Bristol beat United to reach this round of the League Cup, so Red Devils supporters no doubt respected this club quite a bit entering tonight. They obviously respect them even more now.
Man City is having a historically elite season, showing dominance that is in rarified air, but they still couldn’t fill the place tonight.
