Ashley young says he and his Manchester United teammates are feeling very confident about their chances to win it all in UEFA Champions League. This despite the fact that seven teams still alive in the round of 16 have more favorable odds than United of winning it all. The Red Devils will be at Sevilla tomorrow night for the road leg of their knockout round tie.
“You don’t enter a competition not to win it,” Ashley Young said of United’s ambitions. “That’s what we will be looking to do and take each game as it comes.”
“The next one is against Sevilla. That’s a tough away game like today, like Newcastle away. That’s what the stadium is like. We just have to concentrate on ourselves.”
United will likely be without several key players on Wednesday night, and star man Paul Pogba remains a doubt. The latest reports are promising though regarding Pogba. United got a week that is as significant and as consequential as any this season off to a great start with a 2-0 win at Huddersfield Town on Saturday. After the trip to Spain, United will host Chelsea on Sunday in a match that has second place on the line.
It’s also obviously the first meeting between the two managers, Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho, since the two waged their epic war of words to begin the new year.
“It’s a massive week,” Ashley Young said.
“We had to get ourselves back to winning ways after last weekend. We’ve got a tough game against Sevilla away and we’ve got to concentrate on that. We can’t look too far ahead. Obviously, we know we have got Chelsea coming up and Sevilla is the next game and that’s where our thoughts are.”
