Manchester United defender Antonio Valencia has really settled in for the Red Devils at the right back position. His career has truly started to take off since Jose Mourinho replaced Louis van Gaal as Manager.
Valencia was handed the captaincy again last night and he put in an extremely stellar performance as United triumphed at Benfica 1-0 in UEFA Champions League group play. It was the type of defensive, pragmatic kind of game that has become synonymous with Mourinho’s style, and it’s method that certainly highlights Valencia’s talents and abilities.
United club legend Gary Neville took note of Valencia’s elite performance, and expressed the following on social media:
Antonio Valencia has become a wonderful Right Back…

In less than two hours, Antonio Valencia responded, as he was obviously very flattered by the praise he had received; from someone who is truly an expert in this field.
Valencia tweeted the following:
Thank for your kind words! You are a football legend and set a very high standard at that position @GNev2

It sounds like the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
Valencia and company are back in action on Saturday, with a quick turnaround for the next Premier League fixture. They travel to newly promoted Huddersfield Town, in a clash where they will be heavy favorites.
