In the last transfer window, it was widely reported that both Barcelona and Real Madrid were interested in acquiring Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho. It even got to the point that Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp felt that he had to issue a warning to the La Liga powers.
Talk of a Real transfer had cooled off, but the Barca is narrative is back, and it’s in full force.
Then in April, Klopp said that the Barcelona rumors do not actually concern him and his club. The German maintained that Liverpool simply do not want to sell Coutinho. However, now that summer transfer rumor season is here, and the gossip is in full swing, the Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona narrative just won’t go away.
While on international duty with Brazil, the attacking midfielder/winger said the situation is “complicated,” via The Liverpool Echo:
“Talking about this is complicated. I have a contract with my club and it is long. So my focus is on the present and the national team. My focus is here,” he said.
