Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp said this weekend that he would have no issue selecting Philippe Coutinho, and he put his money where his mouth is by including the wantaway midfielder in his official UEFA Champions League roster.
The Brazilian attempted to force a move to Barcelona this summer transfer window, and handed in an official transfer request, but Anfield rejected all three bids that Barca submitted. Due to the protracted transfer saga, Coutinho has not played in any of Liverpool’s first five matches this season.
Also worth noting, maybe even more news-worthy actually, is the omission of right back Nathaniel Clyne. He missed all of Liverpool’s preseason with a back injury and he is yet to return to full training.
