Philippe Coutinho Could Return Wednesday Jurgen Klopp Says

It would appear that the ankle ligament damage Philippe Coutinho suffered in late November has now fully healed. He is apparently match fit now, as Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp is optimistic his star player of all star players could feature Wednesday in the EFL Cup semi-final against Southampton.

They’ll need him as they truly need all hands on deck right now. The road leg of the tournament tie the day after tomorrow kicks off a stretch that will see three road competitions in a week. It’s part of a six matches in 21 days period, which we outlined in full over at this link.

“I think Phil is fit enough to be a big part of the squad. (It) means there could be minutes. It depends on the game,” Klopp said in a prematch media opportunity.

“It’s been six or seven weeks. It’s long. But no final decision has been made until now. I think [it was] the third complete session, tomorrow is the fourth.”

Coutinho will be critical to Liverpool during what could be a make-or-break period for the club.

They face their arch-rivals Manchester United in an emotional league away fixture, and most again the finals of the EFL Cup.

The Reds are also the team closest to Chelsea in the league title race, and Coutinho himself said earlier in the week that he got injured how Liverpool should have title dreams.
