Here we go again- the injury bug is back and it returned to take a major bite out of Liverpool FC.
The Audi Cup, a not so meaningful preseason “tournament,” gave the Reds friendlies on back to back days and it appears that this took it’s toll. Adam Lallana played the second half against Bayern Munich on Tuesday, and then the first half against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday, where he suffered a thigh muscle injury.
Now one of the Reds best midfielders and most important players will be out for multiple months, and you won’t see him again on the pitch until at least October.
“This is certainly not news we would have wanted,” Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp told Liverpool’s official website, LiverpoolFC.com. “Unfortunately, the damage is such that it will likely mean Adam is out for a couple of months not weeks, so I think we can pretty much rule him out of August and September.
“Beyond that we will monitor and wait and see. He is a boy with a world-class attitude to everything professionally and he has always come back in good time from injury setbacks since I have been here, so we will see.”
The 29-year-old English international will also miss Three Lions’ World Cup qualifiers against Malta and Slovakia.
