Liverpool is fully into the stretch run of the season, with just three matches remaining in the Premier League campaign. It starts with Southampton, the team from which they have purchased so many players these past couple years, on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds have battled injuries to key players all season long, but find themselves very close to cinching a top-4 spot despite all of the depleted teams they have had to field.
Liverpool dodged a bullet on Monday with Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian was forced off against Watford with a “dead leg,” but he has been training late in the week and appears to have avoided any serious injury. He is expected to be available and start on Sunday.
Jordan Henderson remains out with a foot injury, and it appears that the Liverpool captain’s season is over. (go here for the Liverpool starting XI prediction)
Jurgen Klopp gave updates on Sadio Mane and Danny Ings late in the week, saying both players are recovering well from knee injuries. Mane has been around Melwood at training and is progressing very well.
Ings has also started light training as he comes back from a severe knee injury. He is expected to make a full recovery for the next season.
According to Oddschecker, Liverpool are receiving 4/7 odds for a victory. Southampton are receiving 11/2 odds for a road win. Odds of a draw are coming in at 10/3.
