Liverpool FC have certainly provided quite the roller coaster for their supporters this season. When they are good, they are about as impressive as it gets, as evidenced by their superlative rout of FC Porto this week in the UEFA Champions League knockout round. Their 5-0 blowout of the Portugese side was described by Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp as perfect, and usually not that easy.
The Reds are also the only team to beat Manchester City in Premier League play this term, in another match that conveys just how special they can be when they are on.
When they are off though, they are extremely bad, as evidenced by losses to bottom of the table sides West Bromwich Albion and Swansea City last month. However, Liverpool are riding a high right now, and thus show up at #5 in Shaka Hislop’s global power rankings this week. LFC were unranked last week in the list produced by the former goalkeeper and current ESPN FC pundit.
The four teams ahead of the Reds in the rankings, in order, are Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.
There was a third Premier League side, Tottenham Hotspur, in the rankings at #9. For the full list go to this link.
