Liverpool Football Club Chairman Tom Werner has joined manager Jurgen Klopp in promising a very active and exciting 2018 summer transfer window. Klopp has previously said there will be new additions beyond just Naby Keita, who makes the move from RB Leipzig this summer, with a deal having been struck last summer.
Werner has now confirmed that Klopp will be granted the funding necessary to upgrade the squad this offseason, a period that begins later tonight with the conclusion of the UEFA Champions League title game in Kiev against Real Madrid.
Win or lose tonight, Klopp has said that the team’s UCL success will no doubt help to serve as a valuable player recruiting tool.
And Werner told the Liverpool ECHO today that the team will splash the cash in order to help make this happen.
“I am excited to see Naby Keita join the club this summer and I can only promise our supporters that we will continue to improve the squad,” Werner said.
“Whatever happens on Saturday night, we will ensure we have a strong squad to compete for trophies next season which will have even more depth.
“We will make decisions that will improve the team and we will sign players who make us even more successful.”
Liverpool FC have been linked this summer with moves for players such as Suso, Nabil Fekir, Ousmane Dembele, Wilfried Zaha, Christian Pulisic, and more.
Without a doubt, there will be many more names linked to Liverpool in transfer rumors on the back pages between now and when the window closes.
