Liverpool Football Club have finally agreed on a transfer fee with AS Roma for the acquisition of Mohamed Salah, according to KingFut. The Egyptian outlet reports that the midfielder will complete his medical examination for his new club on Tuesday, having broken the Roma club record for an individual transfer sale.
“KingFut understands a deal for Salah has been struck at a record-breaking fee in the range of €45 million.”
That amounts to about £39.3 million, so this is a pretty big deal, and major summer transfer window news for Jurgen Klopp’s side. Liverpool had held talks with Basel with hope of making Mohamed Salah their first signing of the 2014 January transfer window, but the Egyptian international went on Premier League rival Chelsea instead.
When the 25-year-old signed with Stamford Bridge, the transfer was fee reported to be in the region of £11 million, so Salah’s market value appears to have quadrupled in three and a half years.
That valuation increase is perfectly natural for a guy who scored 19 goals in all competitions for Roma this past season, the best campaign of his career. He accomplished those numbers despite missing nearly a month and a half while on international duty with Egypt in the Africa Cup of Nations. This is a good pick-up for LFC, as Mohamed Salah appears to be a rising up-and-comer.
There’s also a report circulating today that Liverpool are chasing a potentially club record breaking deal with Borussia Dortmund for striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
If you had a Klopp-Aubameyang BVB reunion at Anfield, coupled with the Salah addition, what a truly augmented attack you would have at LFC.
