There has been a lot of talk about trophies at Liverpool lately. This, despite the fact that manager Jurgen Klopp has yet to claim a single piece of silverware since assuming the reins at Anfield in October of 2015. High flying Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah has been talking a lot about honors lately too.
In the past few days, he both promised a trophy for Reds supporters this year, and proclaimed the reason he moved to the club is to win titles. It won’t happen this year as the Reds are now 17 points behind leaders Manchester City, and out of the title race.
However, Jurgen Klopp led his side to a 5-0 thrashing of Swansea City today and extended the team’s unbeaten run to 14 games.
“I know that people are often not patient enough as it’s all about results,” Klopp said after the game.
“It’s possible from outside to think it’s not quick enough, we feel really good in this moment. Five minutes in the Arsenal game was not good but the performance was good. We drew. For tonight, we feel really good.”
The Reds’ last major honor came via the 2012 League Cup, and they have not claimed a league title since 1989-90.
