Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp has repeatedly had assure his club’s supporters that their summer transfer window is going better than it might appear to the outside observer. Klopp has stressed patience to Reds fans, indicating that work is getting done behind the scenes.
LFC have made one major signing this summer, AS Roma Mohamed Salah, which broke the club transfer fee record. The Reds also added Chelsea cast-off Dominic Solake, who may or may not play a potentially significant role with the team this upcoming season. The main transfer target currently being discussed is RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita, and Klopp had an entertainingly brilliant analogy for how the talks are going.
Jurgen Klopp is quoted in the German magazine Kicker: “They [Leipzig] say ‘Find another car in a different color,’ but you say ‘Thank you, but I want this.’”
“You see the car you’ve been dreaming of all your life, you say ‘Here’s the money’, but they tell you ‘I do not want to sell the car.’” You say ‘But I have the money!’, But they say ‘I do not want to sell’.”
The Liverpool boss continues: “I can imagine it’s annoying for the fans, they think, ‘Oh my God, nothing happens here… If I could decide for myself, we would have been complete since last season’s last day, but these are dreams. It is not that we are more stupid than others clubs or smarter than them.”
Pretty funny, and very insightful remarks right there from Jurgen Klopp. Multiple reports out there corroborate what he’s saying- Leipzig simply aren’t interested in selling Naby Keita.
