Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah was definitely a very hot topic today as his manager, Jurgen Klopp, discussed his leading scorer’s future with the club. This on the same day that UEFA revealed Salah will face the team Liverpool bought him from (AS Roma) in the Champions League semifinals.
The Egyptian magician is a favorite to win the Golden Boot and the PFA Player of the Year, and all of his success is attracting attention from Real Madrid and Barcelona.
However, during a press conference on Friday, Klopp said he’s so confident he’ll have his primary weapon back next season that the thought of losing him doesn’t even cross his mind.
“It’s not a situation I would even think about,” the German told a news conference.
“Around nine months ago he came in to make the next step in his career — and he did it. To come to Liverpool, he had different options and he wanted to come here.”
“If we now always start talking after a year and is it will he leave or whatever, then I don’t think about. It was in the German interview (with Bild, a few weeks ago) and he asked me pretty much the same question. Yes, I’m confident. I don’t think — I know he will be here.”
“We have a big chance here to create something for the future. In the moment we have to deliver performances, collecting points, winning.”
“The age group of the team is really good. We are still young and full of potential and all that stuff. My impression at the moment is that they are all excited about being in this group.”
During the course of this season Salah promised Liverpool will win a trophy, this year, and Premier League titles in the future. He doesn’t seem at all like someone who is looking to change clubs right now. Certainly, his public statements sound like someone who is very happy where he is right now.
In an interview with CNN he said that playing for Liverpool is “very special.”
