This will definitely be a summer of transition at The Kop. There’s been a whole host of changes that came to Anfield. Obviously, the Raheem Sterling soap opera was Liverpool topic #1 this summer transfer window, but the acquisitions of Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino were really big deals too.
As we get closer to the end of deadline day, we have yet another deal confirmed.
Liverpool had been ready to offload Fabio Borini all summer with Fiorentina, Lazio and Sunderland all interested in the Italian.
Sunderland emerged as the winner in this transfer derby; acquiring him for £8 million.
The Italian told the club’s official website: “I am delighted to be back at Sunderland. It is a club I know really well from my time here previously.”
“It will be emotional for me to play at the Stadium of Light again and I can’t wait to get back on the pitch as a Sunderland player,” Fabio Borini continued.
The boss at the Stadium of Light, Coach Dick Advocaat added:
“Fabio is a great addition to the squad who will make our front line stronger. He can play in a number of attacking positions which is a huge benefit to the team.”
