No matter what you do for a living, we can be certain that you haven’t had as many proverbial “days at the office” like Liverpool center back Dejan Lovren had today at Wembley Stadium versus Tottenham Hotspur. The Liverpool back line, central defenders in particular, have been an international punchline for quite some time.
No matter what team and sport you follow, Liverpool defenders make the perfect analogy for ineptitude at a specific position group. Dejan Lovren took that to new depths today with a showing so awful, Reds manager Jurgen Klopp subbed him off for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain at the 31′
“Dreadful Liverpool at the back,” said NBC Sports host Rebecca Lowe at half time of a match that saw Spurs go up 3-1 into the break.
“You almost need painkillers watching him in that first half,” said pundit Kyle Martino, sitting next to Lowe on the desk.
“A serious liability, and Klopp had to do something about it and he did, and what he did I’m impressed with.”
Robbie Earle added “the problem is, if you’re Dejan Lovren, where do you go from here?” (Spurs added to their league midway through the second half by the way)
Indeed that is a perplexing situation. It’s not just mainstream media types slamming Dejan Lovren right now, he’s getting torched by fans and observers on social media too. Here are some of the more notable and colorful Tweets trashing Lovren, who is a top trending term on Twitter right now, and not for any reasons that are good.

I'm aware this sounds like I'm overreacting, but I legitimately think Dejan Lovren has ruined any enjoyment in my life for the last 3 years.

If you are struggling with life, just remember Dejan Lovren is a professional footballer on £100,000 a week.
