“It’s a tough situation, a tough position in the league for us, one point behind Manchester City,” said Liverpool legend Vladimir Smicer, in our exclusive interview.
“It’s a big final day for us, for 29 years we thought we’re going to win the league and really this year is the year I thought we can do it, and unfortunately for us, Manchester City they’re doing so well.”
This is it, a day that truly embodies the meaning of the title “Championship Sunday,” but for Liverpool, the odds are just not in their favor. It’s the other trophy that they have left to play for, the Champions League, where the odds are more favorable.
What more can we say other than it’s certainly “on brand” for the club, given their recent history in both competitions. That said, let’s now look ahead to who Reds boss Jurgen Klopp may start in his first XI in the regular season finale.
