It’s another dull international break, when there isn’t much news and when there is, it’s related to injury concerns. Liverpool will be back in action on Saturday against Huddersfield Town. In the meantime, let’s take a look at some of the Liverpool FC news stories making the rounds on the internet on this Sunday fun day.
Defender Virgil van Dijk will not travel with the Netherlands for their friendly against Belgium on Tuesday. VVD will sit this one out in order to focus on rehabbing his nagging rib injury.
The Dutch FA (KNVB) statement said that it had already been decided that the national team would only play him against Germany (who they beat 3-0 yesterday, with Van Dijk scoring the opening goal) and then rest him against Belgium in order to help his recovery.
-In sticking with extremely important players leaving their international sides in order to return to Liverpool and convalesce, here’s the link to the latest on forward Mohamed Salah, who suffered a muscular injury on Friday night in Africa Cup of Nations action against Swaziland.
His injury is not thought to be serious, but he is still a doubt for next weekend.
-Finally, you have to see this goal Georginio Wijnaldum scored for the Dutch, posted below- it’s a thing of beauty.
Video footage of Van Dijk’s goal is embedded below as well:
