Liverpool are currently the top trending term on Twitter in the United States and it’s easy to understand why. The Reds just accomplished what no one else has been able to do in the Premier League this season- beat Manchester City.
The Reds ended City’s 30 match PL unbeaten streak, which was tied for the third longest in league history. Liverpool are now owners of the longest current winning streak in the league. Across all competitions, they are undefeated in their last 18 (Tottenham Hotspur 4-1, October 22).
Liverpool put in an effort that was every bit what you would expect from a Liverpool match. It was high scoring, and extremely dramatic. The Reds went up 1-0, then 4-1, with a scoring barrage that saw three goals in about eight minutes and change. Of course, no lead is every truly safe for the Anfield outfit, City battled back to make it 4-3.
They even came close to equalizing in extra time. While Liverpool showed us that City isn’t actually invincible after all, it doesn’t mean that we all of a sudden have a league title race now.
What we do have though is the experience of having just watched an amazing match, and the results of that match dominating the Twitter conversation now. Here is a small collection of some of the more entertaining, informative and interesting reactions to this seven goal thriller.
