The Premier League’s marquee game this weekend has now gone final- Liverpool went to Tottenham Hotspur, who are still playing at their temporary home of Wembley Stadium, and emerged victorious 2-1. The Reds remain perfect on the season, and stay top of the table, pending Chelsea and Watford’s results.
For Spurs, they have now dropped their last two matches, after having won the first three. Let’s take a look at some of the top trending topics in the wake of this one, focusing on the Tottenham side in this post. For the Liverpool focus, go to this link.
–Eric Dier didn’t exactly have the best game today, and as you might expect, the world of social media was not very kind to him on Saturday. His name was trending on Twitter, and for all the wrong reasons.

You knew this tweet below was coming. It’s a standard, or an oldie, but a goodie.

-It was certainly a day where many Spurs players just looked off, tired, disoriented, whatever it was it just wasn’t right and the defending was often pretty poor today. Erik Lamela did the give the side a glimmer of hope though, by scoring with three minutes gone in extra time.
Obviously, it was too little, too late, but still a nice looking scoring strike.

-Spurs team captain and No. 1 Hugo Lloris was out due to a thigh injury, so Michele Vorm had to step in and step up today. Unfortunately, it did no go so well. One could argue that he was clearly at fault on both goals, and he got the same treatment from Twitter today that Dier did.
Here are a couple of the funnier postings:

-By the way, NBA superstar, one of the greatest shooters in basketball history, the Golden State Warriors’ Steph Curry, was a guest of honor today.
