Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp watched his side fall 2-1 at the Parc des Princes tonight to Paris Saint-Germain in UEFA Champions League group stage action. The result, which saw Neymar break the record for UCL goals scored by a Brazilian (passing Kaka), left Liverpool in serious danger of not going through to the UCL knockout round.
Now the Reds, who made it all the way to the championship game last season, will need to beat Napoli at Anfield by the score of 1-0 or by two or more goals in order to go through to the final 16. Klopp was livid after the match, for a host of reasons.
He was incensed by the officiating; which he described as “a bit rubbish.” Jurgen Klopp wasn’t too thrilled about the flow of the match in the second half either.
“When a game starts like that it is difficult to gain confidence so it was never our game,” the German said in postgame.
“Another little hurdle we had to overcome was the 500,000 disruptions in the second half and the referee still thinks he did everything right. We are one of the fairest teams in England but tonight we looked like butchers.”
“We have to take the result but it still feels a bit rubbish and now we have to use Anfield one more time.”
The Reds will now have a chance to determine their own European fate at home, December 11, in the final match day, against the current leaders of their grouping.
