Manchester United Manager Jose Mourinho met the media a few minutes hours ago to preview his side’s Premier League group fixture against Southampton FC. Clearly, the highlight/most noteworthy portion of the session comes at the 2:47-:4:40 mark in the clip.
A reporter asks Mourinho about the controversial chant some United supporters have been singing for Romelu Lukaku. The song, which references the size of Lukaku’s penis, has been condemned as racist by Kick It Out. MUFC itself have officially vowed to take action against it.
Mourinho dodges the question on the chant, with the reporter then shifting from a very serious question to a more softball style query. The journalist mentions Mourinho’s recent “exciting times” at Manchester United remark, and queries about when those times began- with the win over these same Saints in the League Cup last year?
Mourinho responds with a very in-depth and classy answer. The Portugese references Louis van Gaal, and pays homage to his predecessor, humbly alluding to the FA Cup win which occurred at the same time Mourinho was hired.
