Jose Mourinho issued a warning in the preseason, as the summer transfer window deadline was drawing to a close. He said that if the club didn’t sign any more players by deadline day, then a difficult season was in store. Well, they added no one else and in week two, his words seem prescient.
United were a thorough embarrassment up and down the pitch today, conceding as many goals in the first half at Brighton as they did in any entire league game last season. They lost the game 3-2, and during a postgame interview Mourinho lost his composure.
The testy exchange here with beIN Sport reporter Carrie Brown conveys the frustration and disappointment inside him:

Brown asked Mourinho about his team’s chemistry and cohesiveness, if this was lacking and did that contribute to the result.
This obviously his a nerve with the United boss, as he snapped back with sarcasm.
“You must be fantastic in your job to have the ability to speak about chemistry between players,” he answered.
Brown was clearly caught off guard by the surprising answer, and she hesitated a bit before moving on to her next question. Overall though, kudos to her, for professionally handling a tense situation with aplomb.
