We learned a couple days ago that Manchester United are reportedly trying to sign Liverpool midfielder Emre Can, who is also very much wanted by Juventus. Former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers didn’t do a whole lot right with his transfer business during his time at Anfield, but if Can sparks a bidding war, then the German international might yield a very nice profit for Liverpool on this investment; at least.
That is, if Liverpool want to part ways with the central midfielder, and right now they most likely do not.
With the Philippe Coutinho saga, LFC sent a message to the world that they are not a “selling club.”
Still, the Emre Can to Juventus narrative is gathering a lot of momentum right now as even the player himself said yesterday that he was flattered by the interest shown from the Italian juggernaut. Can called their kicking the tires on him an honor, and some outlets are reporting that Juve will be pursuing him hard come January transfer window.
“It’s always an honour to receive an offer from such a renowned club, but currently I am only focused on the season with Liverpool. My agent takes care of the rest,” Can said.
“The Premier League is just a really cool league, the most interesting in the world, but you must always respect other big clubs and leagues.”
Additionally Former Liverpool and Juventus goalkeeper Alex Manninger has told the Serie A powerhouse just what a great addition it would be, if they manage to somehow land Emre Can in Turin.
“He [Can] is young and is a player I’ve always admired”, Manninger told ilbianconero. He is still young but is already very strong. He plays like a veteran. He knows how to defend and how to score goals.
“Can is a winner and Juventus will make no mistake if they sign him. He has great charisma and never wants to lose. He has Turkish blood but German technique.”
It’s looking more and more like Emre Can will be a hot topic once the next transfer window opens in January.
