Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko is expected to be the second Chelsea FC signing of the summer, with multiple outlets reporting the deal is close to being completed. Of course, it’s been widely reported that Chelsea were closing in on him for many days up on weeks already.
According to other outlets, Antonio Rudiger could be the next Chelsea addition this summer transfer window, as he reportedly has a medical scheduled this week. There’s some traction out there for Alex Sandro as well. The first player added by the Blues this summer was Manchester City cast-off goalkeeper Willy Caballero.
Getting back to Bakayoko, the player himself has dropped some hints on social media that the transaction is nearing completion. Tiemoue Bakayoko “liked” two tweets indicating his departure from Monaco was imminent.
Take a look:
Kondogbia était énorme aussi , mais jaime pas il a fait une rose saison il part direct ! Jespere qu'il va rater à Chelsea

Monaco supporter and Twitter user FalcaoJr98 debated with fellow supporter Sniperies about Bakayoko’s moving on to Chelsea comparing the player Geoffrey Kondogbia.
Via the Daily Express: “Kondogbia left Monaco for Inter Milan for around £22m in 2015, but has struggled in Italy and missed out on selection at Euro 2016 with France. FalcaoJr98 said Kondogbia was “huge” for Monaco just like Bakayoko but hoped he would struggle at Chelsea, a tweet which the player himself ‘liked’.”
Bakayoko also ‘liked’ a tweet from FalcaoJr98 that read she was “disgusted” about his leaving Monaco. Perhaps Bakayoko is just feeding the trolls and having some fun with this.
Or Perhaps we should all read more into his “liking” two tweets suggesting his transfer from Monaco to Chelsea is done. It’s just another day in the summer silly season in which actual news is very slow, so we all resort to reading way too much into footballer behavior on social media. Mainstream media has also taken this approach with the Alvaro Morata potentially going to Manchester United narrative, Radja Nainggolan‘s Instagram account fueling Chelsea and United speculation, and video of Romelu Lukaku playing on a Chelsea branded pitch posted on IG.
We wouldn’t have it an other way. One thing we do know is for certain is that this deal has not yet officially gone through.
That in turn has had on the domino effect of holding up Nemanja Matic’s proposed £40 million move to Manchester United.
