As one would expect, Manchester City have the most established presence in this Premier League individual player power rankings conducted by NBC Sports. With the Sky Blues off to the best start in Premier League history, of course they have three of the top six.
That’s a no-brainer, so one then wonders next which team could rival City- how about Chelsea FC? The Blues did flirt with breaking the season total points record in 2016-17 en route to winning their second league title in three years. They also won both of those titles running away with it, by a very large margin.
Thus, they have a very stocked roster that’s filled with elite individual players. Chelsea are also coming off their biggest win of the year, a 1-0 home decision over Manchester United this past Sunday.
Only Liverpool was able to join the defending champions, and the team that many believe will essentially have the title wrapped up by the festive period, as sides with three players each in the individual player power rankings.
Here below is the top 9, via NBC’s Joe Prince-Wright. Go to this link to see the full top 20.
1. Kevin De Bruyne (Man City) – Even
2. Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) – New entry
3. Leroy Sane (Man City) – Even
4. N’Golo Kante (Chelsea FC) – New entry
5. Riyad Mahrez (Leicester) Up 4
6. David Silva (Man City) – Up 3
7. Eden Hazard (Chelsea FC) – Down 5
8. Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace) – Down 3
9. Alvaro Morata (Chelsea FC) – New entry
United only landed one by the way, and it’s only in the final slot- ouch! Given how they’ve given Jose Mourinho £285 million to spend in the transfer market that’s extremely disappointing. Yet he still believes that throwing more money at the problem will fix everything for him.
