This weekend’s biggest Premier League fixture is Liverpool versus Chelsea, where the story lines are in abundance. Although the two English giants are nowhere near the top of the table, you still have plenty of intrigue in this one.
On one side, you have a man who his managing just his second league game with his new club in Jurgen Klopp.
On the other side, you have a manager who could be leading his side for the last time. There has been a ton of talk this week that Chelsea Manager Jose Mourinho will be sacked if the Blues fall today. Both managers gave their weekly press conferences previewing this match yesterday.
Klopp gave a kind of/sort of compliment to Mourinho, which seems to be like it would be spot on.
“When I was in Germany, Mourinho and I sometimes sent messages. I have respect for his work. He’s a nice guy. If you’re not a journalist or a referee, he can be a nice guy,” Klopp said.
I guess that’s a back-handed compliment of sorts.
Klopp also added this regarding Mourinho: “He’s emotional, I’m emotional, but we are professional enough to know after the whistle, normal life starts again. Everything is okay between us, no problem.”
Here was his response to a question about why Chelsea has been so bad this year: “I’m not close enough to Chelsea to know the reasons for their form. We have to respect the quality of Chelsea.”
