Chelsea striker Diego Costa gave a very revealing and extremely inflammatory interview to the Daily Mail over the weekend. In the Q&A session, he unloaded on Blues Manager Antonio Conte and how the club is currently treating him. He also explained his view of the current situation that he finds himself in; one that is messy and contentious to say the least.
That’s only the beginning of what was in that article, and you can check out some of the highlights over at this link. Today, Diego Costa released a statement in which he made clear his intentions about his future.
It read:
“My destination is already set. I must return to Atletico Madrid next season. It turns out that there is the impasse that Chelsea does not want to release me. But I believe that this situation will be resolved now on my return to Spain.”
So Costa wants out, and Chelsea obviously cannot coexist with him being a part of the squad, so what’s the hold up?
It’s the Atletico Madrid transfer ban, in place until 2018. The La Liga side can technically sign players this summer, but they are unable to register any player(s) until the start of the next transfer window.
