Chelsea Football Club have moved on in finding Diego Costa‘s replacement. Having seen Manchester United sign their number one transfer target in Romelu Lukaku, Stamford Bridge went out and signed a United target, Alvaro Morata.
The now former Real Madrid center forward was very productive, but not a first team regular in the Spanish capital. He should regularly be in the first team under Manager Antonio Conte at Chelsea.
“He’s a good striker. He’s a player with the right prospect for Chelsea,” said Conte of Morata on Friday. “He’s very young, and for sure he can improve a lot. We hope he will show his value with us.”
Less than an hour ago, the club posted this video on Twitter, in which Alvaro Morata gave his message to club supporters.

“I am so happy to be here. It’s an incredible emotion to be part of this big club. I am looking to work hard, score as many goals as I can and to win as many trophies as possible,” reads the statement attributed to Morata on the official club website.
Technical director Michael Emenalo added: “We are delighted to complete Alvaro’s signing and welcome him to the club. We believe he can make a great impact for Chelsea and look forward to seeing him in action.
“Alvaro has proven class at the highest level and his quality will be a huge asset to Antonio and the squad.”
Morata arrives on a five year deal reportedly worth £58 million, but could reach £70m in add-ons.
Morata is the most expensive player in club history and the eighth priciest overall.
