It’s another international break and thus, kind of a slow time when it comes to big headlines, but there’s still a whole lot of important Chelsea FC news items out there. Here are links to some of the more relevant United news stories currently circulating on the internet.
-Although this narrative has certainly quieted down lately, all season long we’ve heard about manager Antonio Conte being on the hot seat. Owner Roman Abramovich is notorious for his itchy sacking trigger finger. If Conte is out at the end of the season, well it appears he won’t have any issue getting a new high profile job.
The Guardian writes that Paris Saint-Germain have opened talks with Conte’s representation. The publication states:
“The French club are certain to part company with Unai Emery at the end of the season when his contract expires, and Conte is one of four managers the PSG president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, is considering as a replacement. José Mourinho, Diego Simeone and Massimiliano Allegri are the other three.”
-Speaking of Abramovich, the Russian oligarch is notorious for being extremely averse to publicity and making public statements. He’s also known for being extremely tight with Vladimir Putin. Given current world events, where relations between Great Britain and the Kremlin are extremely strained, Abramovich and his financial assets (including the club) could be caught in the middle.
Via 90 min:
“The world of football has been dragged into the growing political trouble between Russia and England following an alleged Russian assassination attempt on a former spy and his daughter in Salisbury.
“With the UK’s response currently a hot topic, it has now been suggested that ?Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and Arsenal’s largest shareholder Alisher Usmanov may see their assets seized by the British government in an attempt to strike back at Vladimir Putin.”
-Finally, We Ain’t Got No History, the Chelsea FC community on SB Nation, did a great write up and analysis of the interview N’Golo Kante gave to French regional newspaper Ouest-France.
