The real winner in tomorrow’s Chelsea FC at Manchester City clash might as well be Liverpool, because they know that only one team can grab all three points from this clash.
City, the defending champions, enter the weekend nine points off the top of the table pace and a point behind both their opponents and second place Leicester City. The race for the top four has essentially separated itself from the rest of the pack. Fifth place Sheffield United are eight points out of fourth, with Arsenal and Manchester United further down. However, this is a clash of two sides with higher ambitions than just the top four.
“I still see them as the same strength,” Chelsea boss Frank Lampard said of his opponents this weekend.
“I’ve watched them a lot this international break. They’ve had their injury problems but they are a great team and still as big a threat as they always have been.
“Anyone can go to Manchester City, play at their best and still lose so I won’t be making huge judgements win or lose tomorrow.”
Let’s take a look at who Lampard might select for his first team in this one. He’ll have Christian Pulisic back, as he’s now recovered from a hip injury and enjoyed a rest from international duty with the Stars and Stripes.
Currently one of the most in form players in the league, he should start.
