Manchester United and Belgium attacking midfielder Marouane Fellaini left in the 29′ of his national team’s 4-3 World Cup qualifier win over Bosnia and Herzegovina today after receiving treatment on his knee.
Belgium Manager Roberto Martinez, and the Belgian FA are very concerned, and obviously United are therefore pretty alarmed as well. It is feared that Fellaini has suffered ligament damage in his knee, and Red Devils supporters are now freaking out.
The Belgian FA confirmed the injury by saying: “It is something to be worried about on first sight. Ligaments, left knee. More news tomorrow.”
Martinez conveyed the seriousness of the injury after the game by saying: “We are all worried about Fellaini. We fear that there’s ligament damage.”
With Paul Pogba already out for the long term, United are about to feel a true injury crisis in midfield now. Old Trafford is also concerned about the fitness of Fellaini’s teammate for club and country, Romelu Lukaku as well.
Fellaini bagged a brace versus Crystal Palace one week ago, and he’s done a fantastic job filling in for the injured Paul Pogba. The very polarizing (even within his own fanbase) personality has really changed perceptions has of late, and he’s producing at a very high level lately; with four goals in his last five competitions for United.
