As you might have heard, once or twice or perhaps a few more times, Arsenal FC star Mesut Ozil is out of contract this summer. At the end of the season, Arsenal now run the risk of losing him on a free transfer at the conclusion of this season, should they not strike a deal with a suitor for his services.
According to Bild, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is looking to reactivate his relationship with Ozil, who he coached when he was boss at Real Madrid.
However, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists that there’s still a chance he will stay with the club, despite also admitting that contract extension talks are on hold for now. Wenger was asked ahead of the Gunners Europa League clash with Koln if the German could still pen a long term contract and stay with the north London side.
“Yes, of course [I am hopeful],’ the Frenchman responded.
The attacking midfielder has won three FA Cups since moving to Arsenal from the Spanish capital, but the Gunners have not truly been a serious Premier League title challenger during any period that Ozil has been with the club.
