On Friday, Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey revealed an interesting plot twist in the ongoing contact extension talks between his agent and the club The Welshman, who will see his contract expire this summer, has no intentions of leaving north London this January transfer window.
He even thought an agreement on a new deal had already been reached. However, it turns out the club made a u-turn on their offer of an extension.
“Everything has been going great with the club – we thought we were in a position where we had agreed a deal but that’s no longer the case,” Aaron Ramsey said.
“So I just have to carry on playing my football and do my best for Arsenal this season and I’ll leave the rest with the club now.”
“Am I disappointed? That’s a decision that they have made and things happen in football and you just have to get on with it and carry on playing the best I can. That’s all I am concentrating on and giving my best for Arsenal.”
So while the 27-year-old Welshman didn’t formally express his feelings on the topic there, it’s clear he’s extremely disappointed by this situation, and the fact that he discussed it publicly conveys his disappointment. He also made it clear that the ball is now in Arsenal’s court in this situation.
Ramsey has started six of the club’s eight Premier League games this season. However, there are doubts still remaining about how this specific player acquired during the Arsene Wenger era fits into Unai Emery’s system.
He remains strongly committed to the club, adding: “Would I stay for the rest of the season? Of course, yeah. I am contracted to Arsenal and I am going to do my best now this season to try and achieve something special.”
